입에 착 붙는 이보영의 패턴회화 120 세트

누구나 신년계획에 한 줄정도는 꼭들어가는 영어공부. 나역시 남들과 같이신년 계획을 위해 작년 12월 15일부터 이달 2월 15일까지 약 2달간 이보영의 패턴회화 120 세트 기본편, 응용편을 다 보았다. 결론부터 얘기하자면 효과가 있다. 제공되는 CD를 mp3플레이어로 옮겨 최소 주 5일 출/퇴근 2시간동안 걸을때는 mp3듣고 지하철에 서있거나 앉아있을 때는책읽고 매일 아무도 없는 거리에서 cd따라 떠벌떠벌 혼자 따라 연습하며 2달을 보냈다. 드라마 재방송이나 보던IPTV로 이보영의 패턴회화 120 강의도 찾아 듣기까지 했다. 그리고 드디어이번주엔 외국인 친구를 한국으로 초대해 함께 지낼 예정인데 외국친구와 메신저로 채팅할때도 2달 전보다는 좀 더 다양한 표현을 할 수 있었다는 점에 점수를 주고싶다. 여튼 책이 120개의 패턴인줄 알았는데 기본편, 응용편 모두 8개의 유닛마다 5개 패턴, 즉 각각 40개 패턴으로 모두 80개의 패턴이 나와있다. 나머지 40패턴은 시리즈로 더 나올 예정인것 같다. 우선 기본편은 좀 쉬운듯한 짧은패턴으로 구성되어있어서 조금은 심리적으로 만만하게 시작할 수 있다. 응용편은 갑자기 예문이 기본편보다 길어져서 CD듣다가 좀 당황했으나 계속 듣다보니 그럭저럭 들린다. 그리고 가장 좋았던 점은 한 개의 패턴에 대하여 여러 상황을 제시하여 각 상황에서 느껴지는 뉘앙스로 패턴을 익힐 수 있는 점이다. 예를들면 누구나what kind of 라는 말을 들어본 적은 있겠지만 그 패턴으로 비꼬며 불평하듯 말할 수 있다는 것을 아는 사람이 많을 것 같지는 않다. 그리고 cd로 이보영선생님과 로버트선생님의 설명으로 영어억양에 감정을 넣어서 말하는 연습이 되어서 스스로 발음하면서 듣기에 좀 더 유창해지는 느낌이 있었다. 한국어설명이 맛깔나서와 매치되는 영어표현도 같이 맛깔나지는 느낌이랄까. 패턴회화 기본편/응용편 다 떼고나서 그 다음책을 보고서는 효과를 확실히 알았다. 외국인친구를 가이드하려고 우리나라우리문화영어로 소개하기 책 읽고있는데 그 안의 영문에 이보영의 패턴회화 120에서 봤던 패턴들이 눈에 쏙쏙 들어온다. 부담없이 시작하려는 사람이나 나처럼 상대방이 하는 말이 무슨 뜻인줄은 대충 알겠는데 막상 대답은 단어, 또는 아주 짧은 문장밖에 만들 수가 없어서 짧은 회화 후에 이렇게 얘기할걸, 저렇게 얘기해볼걸 하는 후회가 많은 사람에게는 매우 도움이 될 것같다.
이보영의 패턴회화 120의 기본편/응용편 세트.

개정판에서는 40개의 패턴은 동일하지만 120개의 새로운 대화문이 들어가는 것으로 변화를 주었고, 포함된 CD에는 MP3파일로 본문에 대한 강의 뿐만 아니라 listen & repeat가 구성되어 있다. 부록으로는 변경된 120개 대화문의 문장 구조를 분석하여 쉽게 정리한 [핵심패턴 40]을 첨부하였다.

외국인 앞에서면 온갖 말들이 입 속에서만 맴도는 분들을 위해 영어를 입에 착 붙게 하는 방법을 제시한 기본편과 비즈니스 관련 표현들을 포함하여 패턴활용 상황이 좀더 광범위하게 될 수 있도록 한 응용편으로 구성되어 있다.
